Read MT5 quotes and recent candles over REST
What fxapis market data is, and is not: a REST poll of the account's broker quotes, and up to 1,000 recent candles from that terminal. No tick history, no deep archive, no WebSocket stream.
fxapis can read the prices the account's own broker is showing, and a short run of recent bars from that same terminal. It is not a market-data vendor.
Verified against the API on 1 November 2026. Owner: the market-data routes in apps/api/src/routes/candles.ts and the quotes route they share a budget with.
| You need | What you get | What you do not get |
|---|---|---|
| Current bid and ask | GET /v1/accounts/{id}/quotes, polled, up to 20 symbols | A WebSocket stream |
| Recent OHLC | GET /v1/accounts/{id}/candles, M1 through MN1, up to 1,000 bars back from the current one | A multi-year backtesting archive |
| Tick history | Not available | Do not infer it from quotes |
| Streaming | Not available | Do not infer it from REST quotes |
The account must be online. Each call reaches its terminal and shares the account's live-read budget with quotes and fresh figures (300 a minute plus 50). Past that, the answer is 429 RATE_LIMITED with retry-after.
Candle times are when each bar opened, in UTC, converted with the broker's current clock offset. Bars from before its last daylight-saving change can be an hour out. tickVolume counts price changes, not contracts traded. The last bar is still forming.
Send symbol or instrument, not both. symbol is the broker's name. instrument is fxapis's name for the market, mapped to that account's symbol.

Use the MetaTrader 5 API on Linux and macOS
Why the official MetaTrader5 Python package only works on Windows next to a running terminal, the Wine, Docker and VPS workarounds people use on Linux and macOS, and how to trade MT5 accounts over plain HTTP instead — from any OS and any language.
Call MT5 from n8n without an Expert Advisor
How the fxapis n8n templates call the REST API with the HTTP Request node. They do not require a local terminal or EA. n8n Cloud was not separately certified in this guide.
